The EN / IEC 60601 with the title "Medical Electrical Equipment" is an international standard for medical devices and is published by the Technical Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission. The EN60601-1-2 standard specifies the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical devices. With the certification, D-Link guarantees the trouble-free use of the wireless switch solution in connection with medical devices. “In order to meet the high safety and quality requirements in medical technology, we pay great attention to the compatibility of our products with the strict safety requirements for electrical devices in the medical field ”, says Mike Lange, Head of Business Development & Product Marketing, D-Link Deutschland GmbH. "With the voluntary safety check by a competent test center, our customers in the medical field can have 100% confidence in our products."
The DWS-3024 wireless switch was designed primarily for use in large wireless LAN environments with a large number of access points. It meets special requirements in terms of security, high availability and low operating costs. The 24 gigabit connections of the DWS-3024 enable high-performance networks to be set up and ensure that the high bandwidth of access points in accordance with the future wireless LAN standard 802.11n is fully utilized - thus eliminating any investment risk the DWS-3024 allows a bundled implementation of security guidelines: All security settings are configured only once at a central point, so that the risk of incorrect entries is minimized; Furthermore, if an access point is stolen by the attacker, no information can be read out, since a power failure will delete all configuration data. In addition, various securely separated network segments, Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) and so-called guest VLANs can be set up. This means that the existing infrastructure in the hospital can be used twice, for example by giving patients access to the Internet via WLAN without having access to internal hospital data.
The access points DWL-3500AP (standard 802.11g) and DWL-8500AP (standard 802.11a / g) were specially designed for use in combination with the DWS-3024. Both transmit at a speed of 54 Mbit / s, but can also be operated in turbo mode and achieve a maximum transmission rate of up to 108 Mbit / s. Two detachable 5dbi antennas guarantee optimal coverage of the 2.4 GHz and (with the dual-band access point DWL-8500AP) 5 GHz frequency ranges at all times. Both access points and the wireless switch support the PoE function (Power over Ethernet). The access points can be installed flexibly and cost-effectively even in hard-to-reach places without an external power supply. The authentication of the users or end devices is carried out centrally, so that fast roaming between the individual access points is also possible across subnetworks - without renewed authentication and IP address assignment. Load balancing automatically ensures efficient bandwidth management and high reliability. In addition, both access points comply with current encryption mechanisms such as WEP, WPA and WPA2. In addition, they offer 802.1Q VLAN tagging and WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) for the preferred handling of bandwidth-critical data packets such as VoIP (Voice over IP) or streaming applications.
