In the future, new media are to be used more in teaching in order to guarantee a sustainable educational policy in the IT area as well. To do this, schools need innovative network solutions that meet the requirements of multimedia teaching. The Central Planning Group for Networks (ZPN) at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs has therefore developed sample solutions for school networks that enable the PC to be used efficiently and safely in a subject-related manner. Security and Recovery: Students are adventurous. This can change important settings and endanger the stability. The model solution resets each student workstation to its original state via the network "at the push of a button". Even computers that can no longer run regenerate themselves in this way. The concept of "self-healing workstations" (SheilA) is urgently recommended for every school. Cost savings The model solution is based on standardized equipment and a structured network infrastructure. Tried and tested server configurations remain the same and do not have to be developed from scratch with each installation. This saves time and money in planning, installation and operation. Support sample solutions create standardized network structures. This allows errors to be analyzed and corrected more quickly.Cross-school typesThe model solutions are suitable for all types and sizes of school due to their scalability.Flexibility and efficiencyWorking at the PC is completely independent of the workplace, as each user logs on to different computers and on his / her custom Profile can access. Further training There are now numerous further training offers for teachers who work as network consultants in schools. The participants are trained in the respective sample solution (Linux, Novell or Windows) and learn to apply this knowledge on site at their school.
